Are you curious about raising poultry or considering starting a small flock?

Join Kelsey and Naga from Apitipi Anicinapek Nation in Northern Ontario as they share their stories and first-hand experiences raising and processing poultry on the Rez. From planning to butchering, laying hens to turkeys and broilers to quail, they’ll share their journey, including the wins, challenges, and lessons they learned along the way.

This webinar is perfect for beginners or anyone curious about raising poultry for themselves and their community. Through their story, participants will hear a bit about Kelsey and Naga’s adventures in:

• Building a coop, preparing a brooder and ordering chicks

• Choosing feed and setting up feeders and waterers

• Managing winter lighting and watering to keep hens laying

• The ins and outs of processing: home butchering, getting to the butcher, and freezing

Come hear their story and pick-up some practical tips, ask questions, and get inspired by Kelsey and Naga’s story of raising poultry in a northern, community-focused setting. Whether you’re curious or ready to start your own flock, this webinar will provide practical tips and encouragement to help you succeed!

This webinar is part of EFAO’s Indigenous Outreach and Engagement Initiative, which is supported by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.
