Join us for a Field Day in Kirkland Lake to tour a local Indigenous food forest project located at Keepers of the Circle. This food forest was designed and developed to promote intergenerational knowledge-sharing and serves as a beautiful space for community gatherings, learning, and food cultivation. During our visit, we will tour the site, learn to identify the plants and their uses, and enjoy light refreshments together.

Keepers of the Circle, operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), is a family-focused and community-oriented organization deeply rooted in Anishinaabe teachings and values. Founded in 1997, Keepers of the Circle addresses service gaps for Indigenous women and their families through a holistic approach that integrates traditional knowledge and on-the-land learning. Embracing the Medicine Wheel and Seven Grandfather Teachings, the organization promotes respectful, judgment-free relationships and recognizes the power of collective action for positive change. Governed by an Indigenous women-led board of directors and guided by a Council of Wisdom Keepers comprising elders from local First Nations, Keepers of the Circle strives to enhance social, economic, and cultural well-being while honouring the unique circumstances of each individual.

This event is part of EFAO’s Indigenous Outreach and Engagement Initiative, which is supported by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.
