Finance February: Bookkeeping Basics (and beyond)

This session will focus on the nuts and bolts of daily bookkeeping and financial record keeping. Participants will learn what to keep track of in their business and how to track it, as well as how to categorize expenses accurately and track farm finances in a way that makes tax season easier. Other topics covered include creating and keeping a chart of accounts, the function of profit & loss statements, using balance sheets, and what different financial statements can help farmers understand about their business.
EFAO’s Finance February webinar series is intended to support participants in building practical skills and knowledge to support smoother financial operations and overall farm financial wellbeing.
This session is intended for those with 5-7 years farming experience, but will be suitable for anyone who hopes to grow their financial management and accounting skills and knowledge. It is recommended for anyone wishing to participate in EFAO’s Vegetable Benchmarking study.
