Outstanding Oats: New Research
Wednesday February 22 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Dr. Joshua Nasielski and farmer collaborators like Jason Seed are working to improve oat standability in research projects at the Ontario Crop Research Centres in New Liskeard and Winchester.
Nasielski is evaluating the impact of agronomic interventions like row spacing, seeding depth, seeding rate, nitrogen applications and the use of a plant growth regulator on oat lodging.
Tune in to hear him explain key findings from the research, and elaborate on next steps researchers can take to continually improve oat production in the province. Also, Seed will give the farmer perspective on the importance of this research for oat growers in the region, and the experience of collaborating with academic institutions to find solutions.
We’ll chat about the science, agronomy, and also about the farmer-researcher relationship and the key role farmer collaborators play in this type of research. Bring your curious mind and lots of questions!
