Grains are Good: Small Scale Small Grains & Baking the Bread

Meet farmer Josh Suppan of Fat Chance Farmstead. Josh grows organic fruit, vegetables and grains on about 30 acres in Harrowsmith (just north of Kingston), Ontario.
Josh markets his produce through a weekly food box program, where patrons come to the farm once a week to load up on veggies and strawberries. But what about the grain? Josh partnered with Grains and Goods farmstead and bakery in Sydenham (east of Harrowsmith) to tackle that! Josh and Roland Jensch from Grains and Goods work together to grow the grain and mill the flour, then Roland purchases Josh’s flour and bakes bread in his stone oven imported from Germany. The flour and bread is then available for purchase through Grains and Goods.
