This event is held in partnership with Black Food Sovereignty Toronto.

Winter is a great time to learn and plan before the farm season begins! Join us in an inspiring, guided round-table discussion around the “state of affairs” in the Black Farming Community in the GTA. We’ll share farming challenges and solutions for how we can bridge those gaps with resources, knowledge, opportunities and collaboration. The hope is that this meeting can foster connections beyond this month and provide support for folks throughout the year. Come ready to connect and learn! You can bring a question, idea, challenge, or resource to share in collaboration with the group as well.

If interested in attending, please fill out our pre-event survey to submit possible topics of discussion! Fill out the survey here.

IN PERSON: Food and refreshments will be available upon arrival, with lots of opportunity to chat and make connections to foster a supportive network. In the following hour, there will be a round-table discussion. Farmer Joe Thomas, Founder of Black Vegans of Toronto (BVOT), will speak, and the day will end with a series of short films showcasing a number of Black farmers across the country.

ONLINE: You also have the option to attend virtually. There will be a virtual discussion, followed by streaming of farmer Joe Thomas’s speech and the short films.

In-person registration is limited to 50 people.
