This ten week, comprehensive course will walk you through the steps to write a detailed farm plan for your farm business. Each week will consist of a pre-recorded webinar, a “live” farmer-to-farmer session, and optional group networking; as well as worksheets, templates, resource links and farm case studies.

Term 1: Establishing a foundation of knowledge and language for basic farm work.

Build a foundation to start a successful farm enterprise.

This program will not only provide you with critical information to start your farm, but you will meet other new and experienced farmers and become a part of the ecological agricultural community in Ontario. Educational content is geared toward new farmers, but is open to all farmers who might be curious about a certain topic, wishing to expand their farming knowledge, or in need of a refresh.



Term 2: Applying farm language and knowledge.

This program will not only provide you with critical information to start your farm, but you will meet other new and experienced farmers and become a part of the ecological agricultural community in Ontario. Educational content is geared toward new farmers, but is open to all farmers who might be curious about a certain topic, wishing to expand their farming knowledge, or in need of a refresh.

Term 2 builds on the foundation concepts from term 1 and expands into concepts needed by new farmers.  Topics include field and bed preparation, harvest/post harvest principles, cover crops, and much more.

Term 3: Expanding beyond basics and building skills for a specialized farm.

This program will not only provide you with critical information to start your farm, but you will meet other new and experienced farmers and become a part of the ecological agricultural community in Ontario. Educational content is geared toward new farmers, but is open to all farmers who might be curious about a certain topic, wishing to expand their farming knowledge, or in need of a refresh.

Term 3 focuses on expanding the new farmers knowledge of specialized concepts and areas of farming such as permaculture, bee keeping, and orchard care.

Term 4: Entrepreneurship training for starting a farm business.

Educational content is geared toward new farmers, but is open to all farmers who might be curious about a certain topic, wishing to expand their farming knowledge, or in need of a refresh.


Term 4 focuses on the business side of starting a farm.  Starting with a Holistic view of farm design we cover topics such as marketing and distribution, record keeping, and assembling your business plan.

EFAO and Everdale have partnered once again to offer this intensive farm planning course for new and beginning farmers.
