This includes the following sessions: \n Webinar: Weed Management for Small Grains in Organic and Conventional Systems with Dr. Joel Gruver \nDr. Joel Gruver is an Associate Professor of Soil Science in the School of Agriculture at Western Illinois University. In addition to teaching soil science and conservation classes\, he is the Director of the WIU Organic Research Program. His research and outreach activities focus on organic grain production systems with an emphasis on weed management\, nutrient management and farming system strategies to enhance soil health. He grew up on a small farm in rural Maryland and has been active in farming systems research and education for over 25 years. \n  \nSmall Grains Meet-Up with Deb Campbell from Agronomy Advantage \nJoin Agronomist Deb Campbell for our monthly meet-up. Deb obtained her BSc (Agr) with a major in Agronomy and an emphasis in soil management from the University of Guelph. She then went on to complete her Certified Crop Adviser certification in 2000. Since then Deb added to that certification by completing the 4R Nutrient Management Specialty and the Resistance Management Specialty.  Deb has a broad range of experience from previously working for Cargill and Syngenta in an array of positions. From Agronomist to Account Manager\, she understands all aspects of growing a successful crop both from the field and business perspective. She has production expertise in corn\, soybeans (including IP)\, cereals\, canola\, edible beans\, alfalfa\, and cover crops. Deb was awarded the Certified Crop Advisor Award of Excellence in 2003. She has served on the Certified Crop Adviser Board of Directors since 2009 and in 2020 served as the Chair of the Board.  Deb is also a director at the local Grey County Soil and Crop and is First Vice for Grey Bruce Farmers Week. In addition to teaching soil science and conservation classes\, he is the Director of the WIU Organic Research Program. His research and outreach activities focus on organic grain production systems with an emphasis on weed management\, nutrient management and farming system strategies to enhance soil health. He grew up on a small farm in rural Maryland and has been active in farming systems research and education for over 25 years. \n  \n11:30am | Small Grains Meet-Up with Deb Campbell from Agronomy Advantage \nJoin Agronomist Deb Campbell for our monthly meet-up. Deb obtained her BSc (Agr) with a major in Agronomy and an emphasis in soil management from the University of Guelph. She then went on to complete her Certified Crop Adviser certification in 2000. Since then Deb added to that certification by completing the 4R Nutrient Management Specialty and the Resistance Management Specialty.  Deb has a broad range of experience from previously working for Cargill and Syngenta in an array of positions. From Agronomist to Account Manager\, she understands all aspects of growing a successful crop both from the field and business perspective. She has production expertise in corn\, soybeans (including IP)\, cereals\, canola\, edible beans\, alfalfa\, and cover crops. Deb was awarded the Certified Crop Advisor Award of Excellence in 2003. She has served on the Certified Crop Adviser Board of Directors since 2009 and in 2020 served as the Chair of the Board.  Deb is also a director at the local Grey County Soil and Crop and is First Vice for Grey Bruce Farmers Week. Avalon Orchards is a certified organic apple orchard in Innisfil\, Ontario. They have one of Canada’s largest plantings of naturally disease resistant varieties which supports their intent to grow and sustain an organic operation. Their orchard has over 10\,000 trees with approximately 18 varieties of naturally scabfree apple trees. They have done their best to create a permaculture with nitrogen generating ground covers and companion plants. In operation for 30 years\, they work to continuously improve their practices and environment to demonstrate that you can successfully grow organic apples.

SUMMARY:Agricultural Clean Technology Program Information Session
DESCRIPTION:The Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program supports the adoption of clean technologies in agriculture- including solar – that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Eligible recipients will have access to non-repayable contributions for projects that are at least $50\,000 in total cost. Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will contribute up to 50% for projects with for-profit recipients and up to 75% for not-for-profit recipients. This funding stream will extend over five years\, from 2021 to 2026\, but funds will be allocated on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nIn this online information session\, listen to Daren Crawford from Otter Energy share how the ACT program can be used to support the inclusion of solar energy technologies in your farm plan\, go through a real life example of one of our members\, and answer any questions you have about on-farm solar energy systems.
