DESCRIPTION:Join the November BIPOC Farmer Meetup!  \nJoin us for a conversation with farmer Chadwick Lewis of Urban Fresh Produce\, who grows organic vegetables in Ottawa on land rented from the National Capital Commission. Originally from Saint Lucia\, Chadwick has been farming since 2015 and now runs Urban Fresh Produce with his family\, focusing on food security and community connection. \nChadwick will share about his first full season at his new farm\, followed by an open Q&A on production\, business skills\, land access\, urban markets\, and balancing farm and family life. \nBring a question you’re curious about. Possible topics: getting started on rented land\, seedling sales and community events\, prepping new land or building high tunnels\, cultural crop planning\, and managing time and workload. \nWith EFAO’s annual Conference next week\, we’ll also preview a few exciting highlights and share some upcoming grant funding programs! \nAll are welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Please join us on May 5 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm for an online meet-up for growers and land stewards from our Network for Black\, Indigenous and other people of colour. \nThis online Meet-Up will feature farmer Ronaldo Lec of Luna Mia Farm sharing about growing amaranth\, seeds and corn. Luna Mia is a Guatemalan-Canadian family farm using ecological\, traditional Mayan practices to grow veggies\, small grain and manage a flock of sheep\, chickens and ducks. They have grown organic seeds on contract for a seed company\, have practiced and taught permaculture for 20 years and have a partnership with bean-to-bar chocolate company Chocosol to produce organic amaranth. \nThere will be time for Q & A and social connection\, as well as general sharing on topics like mentorship\, funding opportunities\, educational programs and more. DESCRIPTION:This event is meant for members of EFAO’s Farmers Network for Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Colour. If you are interested in joining the network\, please join by following the instructions on this page.  \nPlease join us on October 30th from 7:00 – 8:30 pm for an online meetup of the Farmers Network for Black\, Indigenous and other people of colour! Many of us in the Network have had the pleasure to connect with each other in person at field days\, farmers markets and work bees this summer — let’s connect online as the days grow shorter and the season slows down. \n\nThis meetup will feature farmers Shiying Lu and Michelle Dang who will share about their experiences getting EFAO funding to do Farmer Led Research on their farm. After their presentations there will be time for Questions and Answers!\nCurious about attending the 2024 Conference? Please bring any questions you may have! There are going to be some amazing sessions.
