Request for Proposals: Northern Ontario Regional Outreach Consultants

The Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) supports farmers to build resilient ecological farms and grow a strong knowledge-sharing community. We envision an Ontario where thriving ecological farms are the foundation of our food system, and where agriculture protects our resources, increases biodiversity, mitigates climate change, and fosters healthy, vibrant communities.

Established by farmers – for farmers, EFAO has been committed to ecological and organic farming since 1979. EFAO brings farmers together through farmer-to-farmer education and research, so that they can learn from each other and improve the health of their soils, crops, livestock and the environment, while running profitable farm businesses.

Strengthening the Ecological Agriculture Sector in Northern Ontario:

Over the next 3 years, EFAO will carry out a program in Northern Ontario to:

  • Support and encourage the start-up of new farm businesses through training, mentorship, outreach and grants for equipment/capital;
  • Provide farmer-to-farmer training & mentorship through workshops, farm tours, meetings and advisory consultations;
  • Engage farmers in farmer-led research and provide training and financial support for on-farm research trials;
  • Attract new, ecological farm businesses to start-up in northern Ontario through a promotional campaign;
  • Partner and collaborate with organizations and groups in Northern Ontario and beyond to support farm businesses and develop the agriculture sector.
